1st February
Today is St Bridgit's
Day, Laa'l Breeshey in Manx. The first signs of the coming Spring
are around, with snowdrops flowering in the grounds of Braddan Old Church
and the first wild garlic leaves sprouting there as well, producing a lovely
smell as I walked around the churchyard. The Christian saint's day
conveniently co-incides with the pre-christian festival of Imbolc celebrating
the first day of Spring. Panasonic TZ200 1/2/20

After many days of unsuitable
weather, yesterday morning was calm enough for some aerial photography.
Time was a bit restricted though so I only managed one short flight, flying
from the hillside across from Snaefell at Bungalow. DJI Spark 5/2/20

After days of gales
and severe Gales, the wind calmed down a little yesterday and we had a
visit to Peel and Niarbyl. Nikon D7100 11/2/20

The winds continued
to calm down and yesterday afternoon there was only a light breeze with
sunny skies. I took a trip down to the south of the island for a
walk and to take some pictures. Panasonic TZ200 13/2/20

Hango Hill and Scarlett. Panasonic TZ200 13/2/20
Aerial photography in
the Port Cornaa area yesterday afternoon. The tide was high for the
first flight (of four in total) and I've never seen the lagoon so full
of water before, it was getting quite close to the cottage that is normally
well behind. DJI Spark 14/2/20

Mainly Waterfalls!
After heavy overnight
rain which continued through most of the morning I thought I would visit
the Dhoon Glen to see how the waterfalls there were looking. The
rain cleared before lunchtime leaving a sunny but cold and breezy afternoon.

Continuing across to
the the other side of the island to have a look at Spooyt Vane, south of
Kirkmichael.
An interesting sighting
off Douglas yesterday lunchtime was new Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS
Prince of Wales. I think she was here to pick up a Port of Liverpool
pilot, as she was due there for a visit this weekend. Panasonic FZ72

to Milntown House for an excellent lunch in the cafe followed by a stroll
around the gardens. Panasonic TZ200 25/2/20
Driving along the coast

the island. Panasonic TZ200 25/2/20

A sunny afternoon with
a walk along the beach past Jurby Head yesterday. I had hoped to
do some aerial photography but the wind was too strong initially so it
was just ground level shots to start with. Panasonic TZ60 27/2/20
By the time I had walked
to Sartfield and back, the wind had calmed down somewhat and I decided
that it was OK to fly the Phantom.
