TitleThe film 'Waking Ned Devine' which has been on release since November 1998 in the USA and has just been released in the UK was shot entirely in the Isle of Man.

Directed by Kirk Jones and starring David Kelly and Ian Bannan it deals with the effects on a small Irish village when it becomes known that one of the villagers has won the lottery, and the race is then on to find out who is the lucky person.

Locations

cottageNiarbyl, which is on the west coast was the scene of Ned Devine's cottage and the beach used in the film.
 

Cregneash, in the south of the island is the location of 'Tullymore' village.
 
 
 

CoastThe shots of the rugged coastline were mainly on the west coast of the island, between Fleshwick Bay and Niarbyl.
 
 
 

This is just one of several films made each year in the Isle of Man, as the government has a policy of encouraging film production here and there are an abundance of varied locations to be had, both rural and urban.
